First Meeting of EU Funded TAFISA “SportCityNet” in Wiesbaden, Germany PDF Print E-mail

The picturesque capital of the Hesse province, Wiesbaden, is hosting the first meeting of the project group for the EU Funded TAFISA “SportCityNet” project. Under the title “Utilizing the City Setting to Encourage Participation in Sport for All”, representatives from ten European cities as well as ten European national sport organizations will meet for three days in Wiesbaden, March 15 – 17, 2013. Participants from Hessian cities will complete the list of attendees. The “SportCityNet” project, which is part of the TAFISA Triple AC program, aims at establishing a tool box of best practices in community sport, building up a European city network in Sport for All and help to practically implement the EU policies in the urban setting. The event is also supported by the State Ministry of the Interior and for Sport of Hesse and the city of Wiesbaden.

Special guests of the meeting are representatives from the city of Liverpool as one of the pioneer cities in this field and Susanne Hollmann from the EU Commission. Of course, the city of Wiesbaden, the German project participant, will present its various special participation programs to make more citizens, more active, more regular.

A special thanks goes to the participating cities namely Varna (Bulgaria), Slagelse (Denmark), Tampere (Finland), Wiesbaden (Germany), Györ (Hungary), Jurmala (Latvia), Enschede (Netherlands), Lublin (Poland), Guimarães (Portugal), and Cáceres (Spain)
