According to the decision of the TAFISA General Assembly in 2009, the next TAFISA World Congress will take place in Enschede, Netherlands, October 23 – 27, 2013. The Congress is hosted by the TAFISA Dutch Member Organization NISB (Netherlands Institute for Sport and Physical Activity) and the city of Enschede.
Enschede is a city of 158,000 inhabitants located in the eastern part of the Netherlands on the German border. It has a reputation as a number one Sport for All city and a long history in organizing national and international sport events. To learn more about Enschede please visit http://www.visitenschede.nl/
The main theme of the Congress will be
“Sustainability and Sport for All – New Learnings and Understandings”
Within this framework, the focus will be in particular on the following sub themes: • Technology and social media • Nature and environment • Communities and networks • Inclusion and participation

In contrast to previous TAFISA Congress, the 23rd Congress will not take place in a traditional congress hall, but a unique culture and social complex which is comprised of the Enschede Wilminktheatre, the Muziekcentrum and the Grote Kerk (big church) that has been modified into a conference center. The complex is located right in the city center, in walking distance from the central train station.

The Organizing Committee that has already met twice under the chair of Ms. Dorien Dijk and they are expecting some 500 participants from all around the globe.

Previous TAFISA Congresses that take place every two years were hosted in Antalya, Taipei, Buenos Aires, Warsaw, Munich, Cape Town, Larnaka, Penang, Netanya, Chiba and Bordeaux. The 2015 TAFISA World Congress has been given to Budapest, Hungary.
